Biennial Vegetable Seed Workshop April 13

$10 – $100This educational series is dedicated to farmers and gardeners seeking more information and practice on seed production.
All classes are at Meadowlark Hearth Farm in Scottsbluff, NE. Camping is available on the farm for all programs.
There is a sliding scale of $10-$100 per attendee, depending on ability to pay. All donations go to the Living Environment Foundation.

Biennial Vegetable Seed workshop
3 Saturday options available: April 6, 13, 27 from 2-5 pm
A hands-on intensive teaching the basics of overwintering whole plants and roots in harsh climates, crop planning, isolation, and population needs for seed production. We emphasize the care and rearing of biennial seed crops; carrots, brassicas, beets, etc.

Saturday July 13 from 3-5 pm
Tour the fields of Meadowlark Hearth and admire the blooms of our annual and biennial seed crops including carrots, beets, cabbage, onions, and parsnips!
Topics include pollination, isolation requirements, and population size considerations. We will help you visualize trellising and seed work at your farm or garden.
Seventh Annual SEEDFEST and Professional SEED WORKSHOP
Labor Day Weekend: Friday August 30 – Monday Sept 2
Designed for experienced growers but all are welcome! A sample of topics offered by seed growing professionals from Meadowlark Hearth, Fedco and Turtle Tree Seed include seed production techniques, initiating & carrying out a seed contract, weaving seed into a working farm, selecting what to grow to seed, and small to mid-scale tools for
seed production.
Arrive prepared with questions, a notepad, writing utensils, gardening clothes and expect many hands-on activities.
Have fun while harvesting and threshing seed! Sunday we will be dancing on seed with live music and potluck.
Invite friends and family! Free camping on farm available.
You must register prior to arriving at the event. You will receive the schedule after registration.
